Disney+ arrived on the streaming scene on November 19, 2019, when the service officially launched in the U.S. It has since expanded to countries across North America, Latin America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific. As of June 2026, Disney+ has over 130 million subscribers, making it the third most-subscribed-to service after Netflix and Prime Video.
Disney+ is operated under the Disney Streaming arm of The Walt Disney Company, which also runs Hulu (U.S. only) and ESPN’s streaming services. The site uses a dynamic library system, rotating titles in and out at its own discretion, with regional differences depending on licensing agreements.
Standalone Disney+ subscriptions start at 11ドル.99/month with ads or 18ドル.99/month ad-free. The service launched alongside a bundle with Hulu and ESPN+ and has rolled out a number of offers since then, most recently with HBO Max and ESPN Unlimited.
The Disney+ Library
The Disney+ library naturally includes everything Disney owns, including Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic. It also features original programming from FX, ABC, and inherited assets from 20th Century Fox. Here’s a look at some of the collections featured on the service:
Disney+ adds new titles throughout the year, with most upcoming releases announced before the start of each month. New additions to Disney+ in August will include a new Star Wars Visions series, Pokemon, and the finale of X-Men 97 season 2. Subscribers also get access to bonus content from other Disney-owned streaming sites like Hulu and ESPN. At some point in 2026, the full Hulu library will be merged into Disney+.
Titles are occasionally altered before they hit Disney+, such as the recent editing of the Thunderbolts poster, as the service seeks to maintain its "family-friendly" branding. Some of the most popular titles on Disney+ by minutes watched include the children’s series Bluey and the animated Disney hit Moana.
How to Watch Disney+ in 4K
Unlike streaming services like Netflix or HBO, Disney+ offers 4K streaming for all available plans and bundles. This means that as long as you have a subscription to Disney+ then you'll have access to all of the 4K content available. The only caveat is that you will need a setup or a device that can support 4K.
