Here's a rundown of the characters from 2024's Alien: Covenant. Some spoilers follow...
Rain Carradine (played by Cailee Spaeny)
Rain Carradine is a farmer on Jackson's Star, a Weyland-Yutani mining colony. Rain's parents are dead so her only family is her "brother," a childlike ND-255 Synthetic named Andy. He to to leave her grim life behind and travel with Andy and sunny Yvaga is thwarted when Wey-Yu extends her work mandate for many more years and transfers her to the mines.. Rain is contacted by her ex-boyfriend, Tyler, who proposes they use Andy to sneak onto a decommissioned Wey-Yu ship orbiting the planet and steal its cryopods so they can all escape to Yvaga.
The "ship" turns out to be a dead Wey-Yu research outpost that was experimenting with the captured Xenomorph from 1979's Alien and lost control of the beast, resulting in everyone dying and many becoming hosts to more Xenomorphs. When Tyler, his friend Bjorn, and Andy get trapped in a locked lab of Facehuggers, Rain helps swap out Andy's broken module chip for one from a downed Wey-Yu Synthetic. The chip changes Andy and makes him powerful and focused - but it also reprograms him to follow company orders. Orders that include following the direction or Rook, the reassembled science station Synthetic who only wants to salvage the Black Goo they extracted from the Facehuggers.
Rain is appalled by the new Andy and his harsh stance on risk, as he first wants to kill Navarro who gets implanted with a Chestburster and then allows Tyler's sister Kay to be taken by a Xenomorph because rescuing her would have jeopardized the Black Goo. After Bjorn, Navarro, and Tyler are killed, Rain and a near-death Kay make it back to their mining hauler, the Corbelan IV, to escape, but Rain decides to go back for Andy, who fell in combat with Xenomorphs.
Rain finds Andy and switches him back to his "broken" innocent self and the two of them battle their way back to the Corbelan IV, but a pregnant Kay has injected herself with the station's Black Goo in an attempt to heal her dire wounds. The substance instantly mutates her baby and causes her to give birth to an abominable human/alien hybrid which kills her and nearly kills Andy. Rain fights the Offspring and eventually kills it by detaching the Corbelan IV's cargo hold, resulting in it, and the Offspring, colliding with the nearby planet's rings. Rain puts Andy in hypersleep and then enters hypersleep herself, hoping to make it to Yvaga.
Andy (played by David Jonsson)
Andy is a malfunctioning ND-255 model Synthetic who was found in the trash by Rain Carradine's father and reprogrammed to look out for Rain. Andy is sweet, kind, and fond of telling "dad jokes" filled with puns. Rain sees Andy as a brother, and the one to protect (even though he's supposed to protect her). She plans on taking them both to a new world, Yvaga, and away from her life of servitude in a mining colony, but Wey-Yu cancels her trip. Rain's ex, Tyler, proposes that he, Rain, his sister, and their friends leave anyway, using Andy's Synthetic connection to "Mother" to sneak onto a dead research station and steal cryopods.
Andy discovers, from Tyler's Synthetic-hating cousin Bjorn, that Synthetics aren't allowed on Yvaga, which Rain hadn't had the heart to tell him about. When the group faces terror and death aboard the research station, from Facehuggers and Xenomorphs, Rain switches out Andy's broken old module chip for one from a station Synthetic. Top Rain's dismay, this changes Andy and turns him into a cold, calculating Synthetic now working in the best interest of Weyland-Yutani. After a few deaths, Andy helps Rain and Tyler finds shelter in a Wey-Yu lab where Rook, the outpost's science officer Synthetic, instructs Andy to take samples of Black Goo to safety, down to the mining colony. this becomes his main objective. But during a skirmish with Xenomorphs, Andy is injured, which makes him allow Rain to switch him back to his old self.
Rain makes the choice to not abandon Andy, and that the two of them will go to Yvaga no matter the consequences, but their trip is almost ended when Kay, Tyler's sister, infected with Black Goo, gives birth to the Offspring - a disgusting, giant human/alien monstrosity. It kills Kay, downs Andy, but then gets blasted out of their mining ship by Rain. Rain puts Andy into hypersleep, for the trip to Yvaga, promising to heal him.
Tyler Harrison (played by Archie Renaux)
Tyler Harrison is a scavenger in the Weyland-Yutani mining colony of Jackson's Star. He is the ex-boyfriend of farmer Rain Carradine and the brother of Kay Harrison, who is secretly pregnant by Tyler's cousin Bjorn. Tyler hatched a plan for him and his loved ones to all go to Yvaga, using cryopods they'd steal from a derelict Wey-Yu craft orbiting their planet. The key to this plan is Rain's broken Synthetic "brother" Andy, who will have security access to the craft.
Once on the ship, which turns out to be a decimated science outpost overrun with Facehuggers and Xenomorphs, Tyler and Rain wind up with a reprogrammed, and now uncaring, Andy, after two team member deaths. Andy helps Tyler and Tyler and Rain escape Facehuggers, but its almost too close of a call for Tyler, who is now seen as expendable by Andy. Tyler then also watches as Andy coldly refuses to help his sister Kay escape a Xenomorph because of the risk involved.
Tyler, Rain, and Andy make it to the Romulus lab where they learn about the experiments Wey-Yu has been indulging in. They also find a cocooned Kay on the way back to their ship, but Tyler is impaled, and then killed, by a Xenomorph soon after.
Kay Harrison (played by Isabela Merced)
Kay Harrison is sister to scavenger Tyler Harrison on the Weyland-Yutani mining colony of Jackson's Star. Recently without parents, the two of them, along with Tyler's cousin Bjorn, his ex Rain, and others decide to leave Jackson's Star permanently, escaping their mandatory work to live on Yvaga, which is a nine-year trek in hypersleep. To facilitate this, Tyler wants to use Rain's Synthetic brother Andy to break onto a Wey-Yu ship to steal cryopods for them all.
Kay was good friends with Rain before she and Tyler broke up and is happy to see her again when they all meet up to plan the heist. She's also pregnant (it's hinted that Bjorn is the father) - a fact that Rain discovers once their up at the Wey-Yu outpost on their heist. When Bjorn's adoptive sister Navarro gets implanted by a Facehugger and then killed by a Chestburster, their mining ship, the Corbelan IV, flies out of control, damaging the space station, and winding up traveling from the "Remus" side of the outpost to the "Romulus" side. The Chestburster cocoons itself on the Corbelan IV and when Bjorn tries to kill it, he's killed by the dripping acid blood. Kay runs from the Xenomorph that emerges from the cocoon but it eventually takes her (she could have escaped it but Andy refuses to save her because of the risk involved).
Kay is found later, cocooned but not implanted. When she getd back to safety, on the Corbelan IV, she injects herself with Black Goo, at the advice of Andy, to heal her wounds. This winds up instantly mutating her unborn child, causing Kay to give birth to a human/alien hybrid monster, which then kills her.
Bjorn (played by Spike Fearn)
Bjorn is the cousin of scavenger Tyler Harrison on the Weyland-Yutani mining colony of Jackson's Star. He, his adoptive sister Navarro, Tyler's sister Kay, and Tyler's ex Rain all decide to leave Jackson's Star permanently, escaping their mandatory work to live on Yvaga, which is a nine-year trek in hypersleep. The key to this plan is Rain's Synthetic brother Andy, who they need to break onto a Wey-Yu ship to steal cryopods for them all. Bjorn likes the plan but hates Synthetics due to his mom recently being second-hand killed by one in the mines. Because of this Bjorn talks trash to Andy quite a bit, and even tells Andy that he won't even be welcome on Yvaga because they outlawed Synthetics. < br> The entire plan goes sideways when the teams finds out that the ship is actually a Wey-Yu research outpost that was overrun with Facehuggers and Xenomorphs. After battling, and escaping, a legion of lab-grown Facehuggers, one of the creatures attacks Navarro, implanting her with an embryo. Refusing to see herself as a threat, Navarro runs back to their ship, with Bjorn following her, protecting her from Andy who now, under strict risk management, wants to kill her. On the ship, the Corbelan IV, Navarro is killed by a Chestburster while Bjorn is killed investigating the subsequent Xenomorph growth cocoon - via drops of acid blood.
