Nunca pensé que un juego acerca de posesiones fantasmagóricas podría ser tan bello. El estilo artístico me atrapó desde el primer momento, esta es la razón por la cuál amo los indies! Hauntii se ganó un lugar mi corazón♥️

Pros: Absolutely gorgeous art direction coupled with some stellar sound design. The gameplay loop of collecting stars gives a fair amount of satisfaction ala collecting Mario Odyssey Moons. There are also a share of fun moments in game and earnest design in the collected memories that just give warm, happy vibes. Cons: This may or may not be specific to the Switch version, but the game is riddled with bugs, varying from poor control mapping that forgets your mapping, inability to view / control the map, inability to control certain possessions making it impossible to gather all the stars, challenges reappearing with no reward, and collectibles appearing on screen that can't be picked up. The upgrade system is also a bit flawed in design by giving too much free reign in player choice, there ends up being leftover unused upgrade stats and removes the ability for the game to provide progressive challenge, for instance (no spoiler) the final boss seems to assume you may only have no dash upgrades and thus feels anti-climactic. Story is also kinda just all over the place.

There were a lot of things I liked about Hauntii - art style, sound/music, overall theme, and I really enjoyed the emotional aspect of revealing memories. Unfortunately, the pacing seemed a bit off, some of the mechanics grew old, and I found a few parts of the game, including much of the end game, frustrating enough that I dropped the game from a 7 - 7.5 down to a 6. Still a unique, enjoyable experience that I would recommend to those that enjoy indie, artsy style games.
