Summary
Enhanced PlayStation 2 port of the third installment in Taito's Battle Gear arcade racing series. The realistic racer features 64 different licensed car models from six official manufacturers: Honda, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, and Toyota. The game offers up all seven courses from the arcade plus an addition two original ones only found on PlayStation 2. The traditional quick race mode from the arcade has been expanded with a more in-depth "main mode", which lets players win aftermarket parts for their cars. The game includes a net ranking key (a physical dongle, in the shape of a car key) that can be used to interface with the arcade unit and get ranked nationwide. Battle Gear 3, which also supports online head-to-head play, was only released in Japan.
