1980 Slide Systems (a US subsidiary) was sold. Video communications subsidiaries included Television International Operations Ltd and Magnetic Components ^[2]

1981 Formation of new JV company Rank Phicom Video Group by amalgamating the video communications division with part of Rank. Owned 14 percent of TSW-Television South West Holdings.

• Instruments Division included Shandon Southern Products Ltd which had acquired Lerner Laboratories Inc. Closed some of Townson and Mercer's branches. Magnetic Components Ltd.
• Electronic Enclosures Division included Imhof-Bedco Standard Products and Imhof-Bedco Special Products and Imhof-Bedco Precision Engineers and Skinners (Electro-Plate).
• Data Communications Division included Trend Communications

1982 Bryans Southern Instruments was sold to Gould Electronic Holdings

1988 Renamed Life Sciences International plc
