Mrs. Maggie Johnson, 84, longtime
Sumner resident, -idled
Tuesday, December 26 at? 4:30
am. at Mercy Hospital, Oelwein.
She had been hospitalized for
one Week prior to her death.
Mrs. Johnson had been in ill
health since April, 1972 and had
resided at the Nursing Home in
Oelwein for several months before
her illness reached the
serious stage and she entered
the hospital.
Funeral services will be held
Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the
United Methodist Church, Sumner,
with the pastor, Rev, Robert
MacCanon officiating.
Friends may call at the Emerson-
Milnes Funeral Home beginning
Thursday morning. Interment
will be in the Greenwood
Cemetery near Westgate.
She was born Maggie Young
on August 24, 1888, at Hedrick
in Keokuk County, Iowa, the
daughter of Thomas and Mary
Hawk Young, She attended
Public Schools at Hedrick.
Mrs. Johnson was a longtime
member of the United Methodist
Church of Sumner and a
past member of the Navy Mothers
and the Sumner V.F.W.
Auxiliary.
She is survived by one Son,
Billie of Sumner; four daughters,
Mable, Mrs. Frank Miller
of Fayette, Edythe, Mrs. Herbert
Johnson of Sumner, Fan- .
nie, Mrs. Ray Johnson of Sumner
and Lana, Mrs. Kenneth
Kaeppel of Waterloo; one sister,
Mrs. Edna Mick of Sigourney;
15 grandchildren; 26 'great
grandchildren; 11 great great
(grandchildren; 12 step grandchildren;
one step great grandchild;
and several nieces and
nephews.
She was preceded in death by
her husband, Jesse in 1970; her
parents; one sister, Eva; four
grandchildren and two great
grandchildren.
