Death of Mrs. SHANER

Ida FULTON SHANER died yesterday afternoon at the home of her father, James FULTON, on East Lowe street, after an illness of several months. Mrs SHANER was a Jefferson county girl, being born near Glasgow September 26th, 1877, and grew to woman hood there. Three years ago she was married to Ambrose SHANER of that place. Since their marriage they had made their home at Kirksville Mo. A few weeks ago, because of Mrs. SHANER's failing health, they came to the father's home in this city. One child, a boy scarcely two years old, is left without a mother's care. Mrs. SHANER was of a bright and cheerful nature and possessed of many good and womanly qualities, and many friends in this vicinity will deeply regret her death.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow morning at 11 o'clock at Glasgow, conducted by Rev. Jonathan Lee. Burial will be made in the Glasgow cemetery.

Note: Ida May Fulton and Ambrose Lee Shaner were married on December 29, 1900 in Jefferson county, Iowa. The obituary for Ambrose Shaner was found in the newspaper microfilm archives at the Fairfield Public Library, Fairfield, Iowa. However, the obituary for Ambrose did not provide where he was buried at.

Update from Lyle Fulton (thank you!), July 18, 2014: "Following the death of Ida May, Ambrose continued living in Kirksville, Missouri, and eventually married a woman from there. I have not learned her name prior the marriage, only that she is named Dora and middle initial D. About 1913 or so, Ambrose and Dora moved to Pensacola, Oklahoma, where they lived until Ambrose died in1928.

Ambrose died in Pensacola and was buried in nearby Vinita in Fairview Cemetery. Dora lived until 1969, then was buried next to Ambrose."

Additional note: the memorial for Ambrose Shaner was made by another contributor and as/of July 18, 2014 still has the name "Ambose Shaner". A headstone photo request has been made to clarify the spelling of the first name.
