Florence LaRue Barth "Betty" May died Saturday, Aug 26, 2000. She was born Sept. 30, 1924 to Adolph C. Barth and Clara Lee LaRue in Okeene and lived there till marrying Vernon Lynn May on June 19, 1942. She was a military wife and traveled with her husband and family till his retirement in 1966, when they made their home in Midwest City. In 1959, they stayed with her mother and at that time she returned to school to graduate in 1960 from Okeene High School. She taught herself computer skills, did genealogy and has three history books on file at the LDS Library in Salt Lake City, Utah. She helped write the Roger Mills County Cemetery book. She was preceded in death by her husband and her only son, Robert Lynn. She is survived by four daughters, Sharon Sontag, of Geary, Sandy Davis of McLoud, Nancy Ashcraft of Chandler and Cynthia Williams of Shawnee; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in the Hitchcock United Methodist Church at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug.30. Elza Boldman, hospice chaplin will officiate. Interment will be in Winnview Cemetery. The family suggests donations to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation or to Hospice of Oklahoma City.
