Larry E. McKeehan 74, of Mt. Pleasant and formerly of Lockridge passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2013, at his home in Mt. Pleasant after a battle with lung cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 14, 2013, at the First Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Regan Stoops, Rev. Earl Swigart and Rev. Patrick Hillman officiating. Burial will be in the Glasgow Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Friday at the Murphy Funeral Home where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church, HCI Care Services and to the Lockridge Lions Club in his memory.

Larry was born on December 29, 1938, in Mt. Pleasant the son of Evett & Verna Leazer McKeehan. He graduated from Stockport High School in 1957. Larry was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Wright on May 20, 1967, at the Little Brown Church. Larry worked at Rockwell International in Fairfield for 11 years then joined his father in construction and later joined Wiley & Sons Building Contractors retiring after 18 yrs. Larry was always there to help friends with carpentry projects; he enjoyed talking with friends, gardening, model airplanes and experiencing new things. Since his retirement they enjoyed several years of wintering in the south. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and was an active member of the Lockridge Lions Club for 36 years; where he received the Warren Coleman Honorary Award.

Larry is survived by his wife Ruth Ann of Mt. Pleasant and his children; Larry K. (Denise) McKeehan of Chicago, Lanette (Patrick) Hillman of Amman, Jordon, his grandchildren; Katrina, Mitchell(Vonne), Nicole, Marshall (Emily), Samantha, Major, Miles and Jake; and two great grandchildren Preston and Kysa; two sisters Darlene Roberts of Agency and Pauline Spees of Birmingham.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents.
