About Modem Drivers:

To use an installed modem, your operating system requires the help of modem drivers. Modem drivers are software programs that allow your computer to access and use the installed modem.

Modem Driver errors may occur if:

  • The modem drivers were not installed when you first connected the modem to your computer
  • The modem drivers are improperly configured
  • The modem drivers you installed are not compatible with your operating system
  • The modem driver files are corrupt

Common Modem Drivers problems:

When your Modem Driver is missing, outdated, or corrupt, you may experience any of the following issues:

  • Your computer is unable to connect to the Internet, and you receive the following error whenever you try to connect to the Internet: "692 – No Dial Tone".
  • Your computer freezes whenever you try to connect to the Internet using your modem.
  • The modem status constantly shows ‘busy’, as a result of which you are unable to connect to the Internet.

What can I do to fix Modem Driver problems?

You can fix Modem Driver errors via the Device Manager or by using a reliable Driver Management Tool. The latter can be a fast and reliable way of fixing and preventing driver-related issues.

Troubleshooting modem driver problems manually is a lengthy process. If you have the driver disc available, you can uninstall and reinstall the modem drivers. To achieve this in Windows XP, perform the following steps:

  • Click Start
  • Click Run
  • In the Open dialog box, type devmgmt.msc, and then press Enter
  • Expand the modem entry in the Device Manager dialog box
  • Double-click the hardware device whose driver you need to uninstall
  • Click the Driver tab
  • Click the Uninstall button, and follow the onscreen instructions to uninstall the driver
  • Insert the modem driver disc in your CD/DVD-ROM and follow the onscreen instructions to install the driver
  • After you have reinstalled the modem drivers, try connecting to the Internet via the modem. If the problem persists, locate and download the latest driver from your modem manufacturer’s website.

    whn i insert my usb dongle mts mblaze it does nt goes for d installation,it shows one modem driver is missed,immediately dis msg it is showing,earlier it ws going fyn,wht is d pblm??

    Hi.
    I had XP and motorola SB5101 modem and my internet worked. Then I installed windows 7 and though modem seems to be ok, computer says it’s not working properly, no matter if I use USB or Ethernet connection, and I can’t access internet now. So, if I download that driver downloader, will it be able to scan for driver updates without internet? If not, can you offer me another solution?

    please, i need help my laptop is not recognizing my etisalat modem. Its like i mistakely uninstalled somethings and i have tried reinstalling the modem, but my laptop is not recognizing it or accept it unlike before. but it works in other laptops
