Bluetooth Device Drivers are operating system and device specific. Error 1 – "Bluetooth device not found. Please verify that your Bluetooth device is properly connected and turned on"
Meaning – The above error has been reported mostly in Windows XP, and it occurs because Windows XP installs its own Bluetooth device driver instead of the driver that was included with your Bluetooth device.

This is essentially a Bluetooth pairing issue, you may also see the error “Bluetooth cannot start, Hardware not found”

This can be a Bluetooth Drivers issue but it is also worthwhile trying the following which can fix this Bluetooth hardware not found issue.

  1. Go to Device Manager
  2. Click on Bluetooth, select the properties of the first entry which is usually a wireless bluetooth module
  3. In properties dialogue box select the Power Management tab > uncheck the box turn off device to save power

This may solve the problem, if not you may need to use the link at the end of the article to update your Bluetooth Drivers

Error 2 – "This device is not configured correctly. (Code 1)"
Meaning – The above error means that either the required Bluetooth Driver is not installed on your computer or it is missing.

Error 3 – "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"
Meaning – The above error may mean that your Bluetooth Driver is outdated.

What can I do to fix Bluetooth Software Drivers problems?

Fix the Bluetooth error via Device Manager

Windows computers contain a built-in utility, Device Manager, which allows you to identify and troubleshoot driver-related errors. You can access Device Manger via the Control Panel window.

Outlined below are steps to show you how to update drivers via Device Manager in Windows 7 and Vista, and fix driver errors occurring due to an outdated device driver.

  1. Open Control Panel
  2. Double-click Device Manager
  3. Locate and double-click the Bluetooth driver that you need to update
  4. Click the Driver tab
  5. Click the Update Driver button
  6. Click Search automatically for updated driver software
  7. Windows will now search for the latest driver on your system and the Internet. After Windows has located the latest driver, follow the onscreen instructions to install it

Fix the Bluetooth error using a Driver Update Tool

The problems in using the Device Manager are:

  1. The process can be time consuming, especially if you have older versions of Windows operating systems, and
  2. It has a low success rate in efficiently resolving driver errors.

    Like my name suggest, i’m laughing, because, you see, i only want a bluetooth driver… I only want a very simple and obvious driver.

    I cannot find it really BUT…. i can download Windows 3.1, i can download the movie Metropolis released in 1927 and me, i’m there trying to download a Bluetooth driver released let say 5 years ago.

    I have a bluesoleil bluenext BN01 micro bluetooth adaptor; I bought it 28 Oct 2010. I used it successfully for a while, but recently I didn’t use it for a few months. It still works in my old XP computer, but I can’t get it to work on my vista laptop. It did work on this laptop before. A message on screen on the bluesoleil window says please insert a Bluetooth device. I have turned computer off & on again, taken adaptor out & put in again. Somehow windows is not recognising it. I presume it may be a driver problem but I may be wrong.
    My Dell Vostro 1710 Vista laptop has automatic updates. Blue soleil is version 2.7.0.35. I uninstalled & then reinstalled this from the CD that came with the adaptor. The adaptor has no buttons on it, it’s very small; the whole thing is less than twice the size of the USB plug itself.
    So basically windows finds the hardware but can’t find a driver, so bluesoleil doesn’t think there’s any device there. Any suggestions? Thanks

I know this is not a software issue because tried to install the intell proset wireless bluetooth & cannot seem to find where that installed but think its due to the internal Bluetooth my OS is not seeking. This is a brand new dell laptop with win 7 home 64-bit,1tb hd, 8 gb ram, blueray, icore 7 cpu, in the past was working then one day I tried to troubleshoot an issue now few weeks later cannot remember what I did, thought that I disabled the services which when I went in an auto started all Bluetooth services that did not bring it up either. So the puzzling question is why do I see the drivers install & all the drivers are there,the latest up-to-date drivers yet not show in devices?
