It's alright, but I would NEVER name anybody that, but I like this name if it is to a dog (you can see why), anyways but for a human it's not the worst name, a decent surname but a first name would be a bit too animal-y or uncreative, like the only reason you would name your child this is if you are a zoologist or zookeeper and you are thinking of a random animal and you think Wolf is a very good name.
Please change the Jewish usage to Yiddish, Wolf is exclusively the vernacular Yiddish form of Ze'ev. It cannot qualify as Jewish because it is used in Yiddish-speaking communities. [noted -ed]
I think that Wolf is a great name. Very strong and masculine. It brings confidence and respect along with high expectations. (I might be a tiny bit biased)

I was attacked by a wolf once while I was walking in the forest alone at night. They're common in Poland and Sweden. I'm okay, I wasn't hurt too bad. I promise I wasn't bothering it, I guess I just got in its way. It was really dark and I couldn't really see anything, and then the wolf just attacked me. Next time I walk in the forest at night, I'm going to bring a flashlight. Besides, it would scare off the Wolf. Then I wouldn't have to kick it in the stomach to save my life. I like wolves, even though I was almost killed by one. This isn't a name I'd use, but it's pretty cool.
This is such a strong name! I only like one syllable names for boys, they are so much more masculine. This is the best of the animal names for boys (fox, bear, etc.)
I have a hard time believing anybody doesn't like the name Wolf. I had an Army commander named Wolf Hindrichs, and he was amazing. The guy would do anything for us. Dude was a beast. And he was always saying that being named Wolf had made his life easier, but that if he had been short and goofy it would have completely backfired. Whenever someone was having a kid, boy or girl, he would say "Have you considered Wolf?" It was hilarious every time. Man, I miss that guy.

I love the French version of this name, 'Wolv' and plan on using it for my son. I also know a Parisan man named Wolv. This name seems like the bearer would be quite charming.
No idea where the last poster got their info from, but 'Wolv' isn't a French name. Wolf has been used occasionally in France in the last 100 years, but it's extremely rare. Loup (the French word for wolf) is slightly less rare, and had a small popularity spike in 2003, when 87 children were given the name.
Besides for being one of my least favorite animals (isn't saying much, as I'm an animal-lover), it's like a fad for everyone to be obsessed with wolves. It's also sort of awkward as a first name; would make a much better middle name.
My nephew's middle name. It's a name that has to be taken with a grain of salt. If you have lengthy or impressive first or last names, it can be a strong, beautiful middle name, but as a first name it seems too animistic-flower-childish to me or like it would be taken as a joke. I think it makes a powerful middle name that can work for either sex, but is easy to overdo.
