Torsten is the first name of German footballer Torsten Frings, who plays for Werder Bremen and the German National Team.
My friend knows a foreign-exchange student named Torsten. He pronounces it "TORE-stin", as in "door". I like this very much.

It is pronounced as TAURR-stenn. The Taurr-sound is short, not long as in "door". If you pronounce it really lazily, it sound almost like TOSH-ten.
