It says it's from "to honor" plus an ending. The word ending should, to my knowledge, change the meaning from "to honor" into "honorable", as in "the person with this name is an honorable person". Just to clarify!
I pronounce it "tih-MAY-iss" because I have always heard Bartimaeus (son of honor) as "bar-tim-AY-iss".

I love this name! It has many of the qualities I like to see in boy's names. I like the fact that it is classical, but also has a slightly cute sound to it (in my opinion), I like how is is mature, but can also be shortened if the wearer of the name doesn't like it. I'm thinking about using this name for the main male character in my next story (and I most likely will).
Greek form is Euthymia meaning "joyful, good humour". Name day celebrate 3th May.
