I see timeless appeal in this name, very cute for a boy yet mature and handsome on a man, and I admire the nickname of Tom very much. So, in short, this is a fantastic name with class, strength, a clean spelling and sound, and timeless appeal and good nicknames. I don't see how you could go wrong with Thomas. I am from Germany and live in the US for 15 years now, but to this day it bothers me that most assume they can call me Tom. Be it in a verbal conversation, email and so on.
