In my area of Wales, this is pronounced SHON-ed, like the words "shone" (rhyming with scone) and the name Edd [ˈʃɔn.ɛd]. [noted -ed]

I thought at first glimpse it was said Sie-oh-ned.

I've met someone with this name who pronounces it "shuh-nayd" like Sinead. Are they completely wrong with this or is it a valid pronunciation?

Pronounced SHONed (or SHAUNed, would make more sense for English speakers).

Sioned is also the name of a character in Welsh mythology. Sioned, she was goddess of a lake in West Wales. She was worshipped by local villagers.
