Sem means "here" in Czech and Slovak.

I used to think that this was a spelling variant of Sam and I've just discovered that it's a name in its own right, I like it.

This name is on my list of top names for sure! I really love this name although there are a lot of Sem's walking around in the Netherlands all of sudden. I also like Sam.
