Meta is also Latvian and Estonian. The name day for Meta in Latvia is December 2. The name day for Meta in Estonia is March 14.

Meta is also a modern term stemming from a Greek prefix meaning "among/after/beyond." Today it is used to describe something that references itself or shows awareness of its purpose, ie metadata.

This is actually my name. :] My parents lived in Italy for a year and they had a friend who had this name. Mine is pronounced May-tuh. The t sounds sort of like a d. It's not like a straight 'uh' sound though, it's natural.
I love my name, it's unique, and it's funny to hear people pronouce it, 'cuz then I get to correct them. ;]

I can't imagine anyone using this name with the concepts of metaphysics and what not being so common. In a way, it would be a cool name specifically because of that.
Meta is also used in Slovenian language, mostly as an abbreviation of Marjetka or Marjeta.
