I have always liked the name Jared. Even now, I still do, in spite of the whole "bad-association" shtick. Like, yeah, some namesakes aren't exactly flattering, but most often than not, namesakes don't ruin (or make me instantly gravitate towards) a name for me. Besides, in my book, a namesake should not eclipse a name for me or others, regardless of how controversial or nasty the bearer is, as most if not all celebrities aren't good or perfect people and focusing on them only in the comments makes it feel like you got nothing to say about the name besides commentary that to be blunt, no one asked for. To me, this name is perfectly usable in spite of those bearers, and it is great. To start, I always liked the -red part. Gave this name a grit which I liked, and it did help matters that red has always been my favorite color (nowadays it's tied with cyan and medium blue). Even besides that, this name is handsome, rugged, refined, and simplistic in its strength. At just 5 letters, no more or less, it feels very dominant, sturdy, and firm, and I like that. The sound of this name is great, the Jar- part feels very suspenseful and grounded, as if giving this name a foundation. And the -ed feels like a clash, but not an irritating one, but rather pleasant, and I like the sound. The spelling of this name is great. It is clean and polished with no letter clashes whatsoever, and even if I'm not Christian, I like the historical and ancient touches the biblical association gives this name. I think it strengthens it a lot. I think this name is very mature. I don't get the childish comments surrounding this name. But I also think it'll fit well in a child too. And I've yet to meet a Jared, at least my age, which is a shame. I'd love to meet a Jared someday (or maybe I have? I don't know.) In short, I think it's a handsome, rugged, gritty, simplistic, sturdy, and firm name, and I like it a lot. I'd highly recommend it, it's fantastic.
Although the many well-known associations with this name aren't very positive and the only personal association that I have with it is a guy I attended highschool with who had an absolute hot-headed temperament, I can't help but to like this name. Jared comes across as classic, crisp, handsome and mature. It's well-known but also incredibly underused even though I can understand why not many people are choosing it anymore. The one good association that I can think of however when it comes to this name is of the actor Jared Padalecki from Supernatural 2005-2020. So there are some positive associations. The colors that I mainly associate with this name is red, probably due to the literal spelling of it, but also for whatever reason, Navy blue.
I really like this name, so much so that I actually used this name for myself. I still kind of miss this name. It makes me think of a guy who is young, cool, confident, & probably will be the best pal you can ask for. Also, this spelling is FAR more superior than the other variants out there. FIGHT ME!
"Yeah I've met Jared (Of course I've met Jared!)" Wilbur Soot - Your New Boyfriend I like this name mainly for this reference but it's also just a cool name.
I used to not love the name for whatever reason, but now I do! (probably partially because Jared from Crazy Middles has it lol) but it's also kinda a cute name. Jerry is a cute nickname.
As seen in the 68th chapter of the book of Jasher. This name is one of 8 names given to Mosheh. This name was given him by his sister Miryam. So far in my research I have only been able to find the meaning of two out of the first four I have researched. This site and the comments on this good name are not beneficial in my studies.
Jared Fogle used to be the spokesman for Subway commercials starting in 2000. In 2015, however, he turned out to be a massive pedophile after being caught possessing child pornography. I really hope that this association won't forever ruin this perfectly fine name.
In 2018, 12 is the most common age for an American (U.S.) Jared who is registered male with the Social Security Administration. It is the 288th most common male first name for living U.S. citizens.
My name is Jarrod but rarely do I see my name spelled this way.. it's usually spelled Jared, like in the holy bible. But I'm not rugged or handsome, I'm just way too nice for my own good.. it's my number 1 fault I seem to have :)
Jared Ryan Abbrederis is an American football wide receiver for the Detroit Lions of the National Football League. He played college football at Wisconsin and was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft.
My name is Jered. Jared means to descend, as in God sent people/angels down to earth for a purpose. Which I truly believe I am on this earth right now for. GOD BLESS.

Jared ( Irish ), also known to mean "rose ". Found this meaning in the same book of baby names 16 years ago. I remember liking "rose" better as the meaning of Jared, than the other meanings! It's my eldest sons middle name... so I must have been happy with the meaning as well as the name! : )
Sadly, this name (and all other spellings) has shifted from a lovely Biblical name to a bogan name here in Australia. It's all football's fault, with so many players carrying the name.
My husband's name is Jared and he is everything that has been mentioned a strong rugged man who is very caring. It annoys him that people can’t spell his name and keep spelling it Jarrod. In a very Aussie accent he says "JA RED mate not GER ARD not JA ROD, you say it like you spell it!".
I've always wanted to name a son Jared, but my wife doesn't like it. She went to school with a lot of guys with the name, but I haven't known too many people with this name myself.
I was going to be named Jared if I was a boy and, quite frankly, I am exceedingly glad that I'm a girl. What would you call someone named Jared? Jarry? uck.
Jared has always sounded to me like a sweet yet strong person. Regardless of its true meaning, as a result of my first love bearing this name, "Jared" will forever mean "sweetness" and "beloved" to me.
I grew up with a boy named Jared who used to live down the street from me, so when I hear this name he's the first person I think of. It also makes me think of the guy who lost a bunch of weight on the Subway diet (which isn't a bad thing!). In the long run, I do like this name a lot.
The name Jared means ruler or one who rules. In my experience the name is worthy of a King. The young gentleman I know with this name has the style, intelligence, compassion and strength to rule a nation.
My impression of Jared is someone who tries hard and never gives up and no matter how many times he falls he has the courage in him to get right back up.
Contribution to the other Jared Leto comments, not only is he the singer of 30 Seconds to Mars, he is also an actor. He was in Panic Room, Fight Club, Requiem for a Dream, and more.
