From Persian فردوسی (Ferdōsī) meaning "paradisiacal, heavenly", derived from Arabic فردوس (firdaws), itself of Iranian origin [1] [2] . Ferdowsi was the pen name of a 10th-century poet and historian, the author of the epic Shahnameh, which tells the history of Persia.
