I went by Ember for about 5 years, because I hated my legal name and wanted to change it. I can't remember how exactly I came across it, I think it was from Ember Island in Avatar the Last Airbender? I loved the name (still do!), and I still have friends that call me Ember, even though I've since accepted and embraced my birth name and go by it again. I got called 'Em' as a nickname occasionally. I did have a few people call me Amber thinking that was my name, but it wasn't much of a bother. I've only had positive experiences with this name, so I definitely recommend it to any parents considering naming their daughters this! It holds a special place in my heart.
Ember was my birth name that I have since changed in casual settings, but use for official purposes. I think it's a good name however I HATED being called Amber constantly as a child, which has turned me sour to it. Now that it's getting more popular this has stopped happening as often to me, however it is still a mine field for mispronunciation or wrong names. I was named after one of my fathers Ever Quest characters [an old MMORPG] in the early 2000s, so it very much is a quirky feeling name to have. I'm one of the oldest folks with my name I've ever heard of personally, meaning that as Gen Z and younger grow older, I have a feeling it will be a 'name of the era', a real 21st century original haha. I would love for other children to have a nice, simple and pretty name.
My step-niece's name. Not bad; I do prefer classic Amber, which is basically the same name with a vowel switch. (It's not as if Amber is popular and you need to try to be different, anyway. I think I've only ever known one girl, and the people who come to mind first are Amber Mariens from Clueless and Amber Brown, who is not a crayon.) But yeah, Ember's okay. According to my Hungarian friend it also means "life" in her language.
I’ve always loved Amber, but I feel as though this adds a bit of spice to it. I love this name so much! I’m usually not a fan of E names, but this one I adore!
Ember is also used as a masculine name in modern English. However, it's more common for females. So, I think that the "Gender" of this name should be updated from "Feminine" to "Feminine & Masculine".Source: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unisex_name

As an Ember myself, I love my name and it's actually an enby/unisex name believe it or not (can be used for any gender) Although it's commonly used for girls and those genderno people :) Personally, I think I have the best name I could have and you're lucky if you are also an Ember or Emberly or some variation because you're always gonna get the best compliments.
Oh how I love the name Ember! It makes me think of fire and orange, and it’s a beautiful, unique name! I’m ginger, and if my daughter has ginger hair her name will (possibly!) be Ember!
Meaning: Simply from the English word meaning "glowing coal in a dying fire". From Old English ǣmyrge, from Proto-Germanic *aima 'ashes'. As a given, it was first recorded in the 1800s, most likely as a transferred use of the surname Ember. In modern times, its use as a given name is probably due to its similarity to Amber.https://www.linkedin.com/pub/dir/Ember/+(Information from name #205 originally submitted by an anonymous user).
