Creating a custom style class:

  • In a type selector, the name that presents after the period is called as the "style class".
    • Consider an example if the selector is ".label", then the style class is "label".
    • If the selector is ".button", then the style class is "button".
    • JavaFx application allows the user to create own custom style classes to achieve more flexibility in the style definitions.
  • Using "getStyleClass().add()" method, user can add the desired style class to the given node.

Example:

The example for creating a custom style class is shown below:

button1.getStyleClass().add("button-white");

From the above line, the "button1" represents a "Button" control name and then "button-white" represents the style definition to given button control.
