#3 Writing 5 May 8, 2019 Organization: Argument – Focused Organization Audience: Several IEP teachers Word Count: 450 Authoritative parenting is better for a child Nowadays, parents have three ways to teach their children which are authoritarian, authoritative or permissive parenting. Authoritarian parents always control and want their children to follow them step-by-step. Moreover, permissive parents usually spoil and do not punish their children when they make mistakes. However, authoritative parents are a type that combine between authoritarian and permissive parents. In other words, they accept children to grow up on their own and control them when necessary. Authoritative parenting is the better way for children to grow up everything and improve their skills on social life. To begin with, authoritative parenting is a basic world for children to enter the real world. While children have a lot of better abilities, they are still embarrassed when they stand in front of crowded. Papalia, D.E. and Olds, S.W., are the author of "Child-Rearing Styles", realize that authoritative parents need to incentive children to show their skills and confident with their opinions on social life (2014). Many children assume that they usually think their opinions that are wrong and they do not want to show it for people. However, thanks to their authoritative parents always stand by them and push them to show their opinions. Most of this children usually get successful in their life.

On the other hand, some parents in the first generation believe that children need to be controlled by them as same as authoritarian parenting. If parents control them when necessary, it will be late. Though I concede that children need to be supervised by their parents, I still insist that if they are always controlled by their parents as same as authoritarian parenting, they will be quiet and will not share their feeling with parents. Moreover, Papalia, D. E. and Olds, S.W. show us that "Authoritarian parents value unquestioning, obedience and punish their children forcibly for not conforming to set and quite absolute standards. Their children tend to be discontented, withdrawn, and distrustful of others" (2014, p.126). I agree that authoritarian parenting is the worst way to teach children because I see most of children on the world under authoritarian parenting are not get successful in their life. They always feel afraid of with their opinions which are not following by their parents and they are not confident when they enter the real world. To put it all in a nutshell, authoritative parenting is the better way to support children to touch the achievements in the real world. Children are like young buds on tree branches and they need more motivations from their parents to successful in their life.
