Joep van Geffen (Bass-Baritone)
Born:
1977 - Nijmegen, the NetherlandsThe Dutch bass-baritone, worked for six years as a cook, had singing lessons from Cornelia Burgers and sang as a freelancer for various projects, before he began his studies at the ArtEZ Conservatorium. He completed this training in 2006 and continued his studies at the Messiaen Academie with Harry van Berne, Harry van der Kamp and Elena Vink. He also attended master-classes with Carolyn Watkinson, Beryl Foster, Michael Chance en David Wilson-Johnson.
Joep van Geffen, is a member of the Groot Omroepkoor since September 2008. Except in the Groot Omroepkoor, he also sings in the professional chamber choir Cappella Amsterdam under the direction of Daniel Reuss and the vocal ensemble Capella Isalana under the direction of Klaas Stok.
Joep van Geffen performs as a soloist in several oratorios and opera projects and regularly gives Lieder recitals . He can be heard as a soloist, among others, in Bach Cantatas, Leonard Bernstein's Trouble in Tahiti, A Hand of Bridge by Samuel Barber, King Arthur by Purcell , La Serva Padrona by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi and L'Elisir d'amore by Donizetti .
In his spare time, Joep van Geffen is still working as a cook, specializing in Italian cuisine, and is working on a project basis at social gatherings, parties and dinners .
