Get started with Gemini for Home features
Gemini for Home is Google’s new set of AI features for your smart home.
When you opt in to Gemini for Home, it’ll be available on all eligible devices in your home, including devices you add later. Everyone in your home will be able to use Gemini for Home features.

Availability and early access
Gemini for Home features are rolling out in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, United Kingdom, and United States. Some features are only available with a Google Home Premium subscription.
Important: Gemini for Home voice assistant started rolling out on October 28, 2025 beginning in the United States in English.

Request early access to Gemini for Home voice assistant
Early access for Gemini for Home is different from the Public Preview for the Google Home app. Join early access to be among the first to get an invite to upgrade your assistant to Gemini for Home. You’ll be notified when Gemini for Home features are available for your home.
Before you join, confirm your Google Groups settings to ensure you can sign up for early access. To do this:
- Sign into Google Groups.
- Tap Settings and then Global settings.
- Confirm "Add me to their groups" is checked.
- Tap Save.
Make sure you’re using the latest version of the Google Home app, then:
- Open the Google Home app .
- At the top right, tap your Profile picture or Initial.
- Tap Home settings and then Early Access.
Opt in to Gemini for Home
You’ll receive a notification with the message "Introducing Gemini for Home" once the upgrade to Gemini for Home is available for your home. Tap on the notification to be directed to the Google Home app, then tap Get started and follow the prompts to set up your Gemini for Home.
If you choose Not now and you have a Google Home Premium subscription, you can set it up later through the following options:
- Open the Google Home app and a prompt will appear. Tap Get Started.
- Open the Google Home app and go to your inbox. Check for the message about setting up Gemini for Home.

Gemini for Home voice assistant
Important: Gemini for Home voice assistant started rolling out on October 28, 2025 beginning in the United States in English.
This new voice assistant introduces Gemini to the home and improves how your speakers and displays handle interactions. It can help you with everyday tasks such as controlling your smart home, discovering and playing media, getting information, and organizing household activities.
For Google Home Premium subscribers, Gemini Live is also coming to Nest speakers and displays. Say "Ok Google, let’s chat" to start a live conversation with Gemini. Have a back and forth discussion on any topic, brainstorm ideas, get advice, learn about current events, or just be creative.

Gemini for Home camera features
You get new AI features for your cameras, such as AI descriptions, AI notifications, and a daily Home Brief that summarizes recorded camera events. These features require the Advanced plan of Google Home Premium.

With Help me create, you can describe your desired automation by typing it, and the Google Home app will generate a version you can personalize and save. This feature requires a Google Home Premium subscription.

Ask Home
This feature lets you, through conversation, control your devices, get information about your home's status and history, and create automations in the Google Home app. Some features are available to users at no cost, with others requiring a Google Home Premium subscription.

Here are a few important things to know about how we handle your personal data when you use Gemini for Home.
- Your personal data in Gemini for Home is never used for ads.
- Video footage, audio recordings, or personally identifiable information aren't shared with human reviewers or used to improve models. We only do so if you separately consent to share them or provide feedback for this purpose. In rare cases, this information may also be used to address abuse or harm.
- We don't train any generative AI models outside of Google Home with your personal data, which includes other Gemini models and products.
