I am currently trying to develop my first Android Auto App. It is an app in the category "navigation".

As far as I know, the requirements for a navigation app are very strict. For example, such an app must have integrated route planning in order to be recognized as a navigation app by Android Auto.

I can't yet get the app to be displayed in the Android Auto Launcher. The app is displayed in the About section under Android Auto but unfortunately not in the launcher. I have already managed this with a small media app.

Now I have used Logcat to find the error. Logcat shows me this error:

Package DENIED; failed all other checks [com.example.navigation_app]

Has anyone ever created a navigation app for Android Auto or does anyone know how to get more precise error messages? Unfortunately, this error does not indicate the specific reason.

If someone has experience with something like this, we can of course go through the specific code.

Thanks!

  • Why can't I ask customer service-related questions on Stack Overflow? Commented Jun 4, 2025 at 16:34
  • Please check the tour. Stackoverflow is a Q&A site, not a discussion forum. All relevant information must be in the question. This should include a minimal reproducible example if possible, or any other error details. If "denied" is all you got, you may have to ask google's support. Also try to write a more descriptive title so that people get a better idea what you want. Some may not even open your question if the title doesn't appeal to them. Commented Jun 4, 2025 at 16:35
  • Hi Robert, thanks for the info. But for me this is an Q&A question. I want to know if anyone know how to get more details from the logcat. Or maybe someone knows a different Tool for debugging the android auto validation. Commented Jun 4, 2025 at 17:03
  • But you are right. It is not a specific Code question. I changed the title. Commented Jun 4, 2025 at 17:04
