Really? Darn, 2.4 is very old for wxPython.
Do a lot of folks only use the official packages?

The current Debian stable (e.g. Sarge) has wxWindows 2.4.3.1.

I'm planning to make time for this, and a slew of other wx backend
stuff, in early February.

I think it will work with older versions, but I haven't tested it. How
far back do we need to go? I think 2.6.3 ( the last "stable" release )
should do it.
Aside from this, that's relevant if I ever find the time to work on
other parts of the wx backends.
I'll try to test.

Ken has said he's going to try to take a look soon, but we're all busy!

While show() does display the figure it does not work for me as it
will lock
up the script, so it never makes it to the end = confirm() line.

try "show()"
From: Tommy G. <tg...@ma...> - 2007年01月23日 18:20:37
I have a program that enters a while loop, calculates a bunch of
arrays and then plots
a figure. The user then looks at the figure and is asked wether the
result is ok. If the
answer is no, then the calculations are redone and the figure
replotted. If the answer is
yes then it exits the loop.
import pylab as p
end = False
while not end:
	(x,y,z) = calculate_arrays()
	figure(1)
	subplot(211)
	plot(x,z)
	subplot(212)
	plot(x,y)
	draw()
	end = confirm("is the plot ok?")
	clf()
However using the draw() command does not display the figure. How do
I do this?
I am using Tkagg with numpy on a Mac OS X.
Cheers

You need to add figure text and figure legends -- see these examples:
 http://matplotlib.sourceforge.net/examples/figtext.py
 http://matplotlib.sourceforge.net/examples/figlegend_demo.py
Hope this helps,

Hey Chris, thanks for this info. Do we expect this modified code to
also work for older versions of wx, or is this 2.8 specific.

Noone officially. Ken and Charlie both have commit privileges and
have worked on wx, but noone has volunteered to be the designated goto

I would like to have the extreme end of the upper whisker
on the box plot co-incide with the 98% of the data.

According to the documents:
whis (default 1.5) defines the length of the whiskers as
a function of the inner quartile range. They extend to the
most extreme data point within ( whis*(75%-25%) ) data range.
So, in theory, a value of whis=1.9 should be what is needed
but this seems to produce a much lower point - what value
do I need to use?
Thanks
Derek

I'm guessing that you are installing on a system that includes pygtk-2.4
(RHEL?). If that is the case, it is probably a bug in pygtk, see
http://matplotlib.sourceforge.net/faq.html#PYGTK24
If this is not the case, please post again with more information concerning os
and version, etc.

Hi,
i'm a newbie in matplotlib, I have a multiple plot, I have small
titles for each subplot and I'd like to add a bigger title for all the
figure and a legend to all the figure as well.
If I set a title before subplotting it is deleted.
Later I can set only titles to the subplots.
Could someone please help?

Hi,
How can we remove only top and right lines of a plot, box(on=False) removes
all. Same question for top and right ticks?
thanks
