I see what you are getting at. The issue is that artists are first sorted
by the zorder and then drawn one at a time. The draw for a collection
artist is an at-once operation, it can't (currently) be split out and
interspersed with the draws from another artist. This is one of the major
limitations for mplot3d, as it would be nice to compose a 3d scene properly
so that everything is logically consistent.
I have actually been working on some changes that would allow one to sort
the draws of individual elements of a collection, but I still haven't
figured out a way to "break out" the elements with other collection
elements in a way that doesn't break the current design or introduce major
performance penalties. Maybe I'll figure something out during SciPy2015.

I'm attempting to run a Matplotlib example that requires the use of 
mpl_toolkit mplot3d. I'm running Anaconda on a MackBook Pro running Mac 
OS X 10.10.3. I have the latest version of Anaconda and Matplotlib 
installed. I also installed Basemap which as I understand it also 
installs mpl_toolkits at the same time.
The sample program is attached to this posting. I get the following 
error message when I run it:

*//* File "/Users/user/coursera - programming for everybody

You'll be producing the KML from pythonor some other python package. GIS
I/O is well beyond matplotlib's scope.

Hi everyone,
 
I had recently experienced a frustration regarding zorder and clip_on in
Matplotlib.
 
In figure 1 attached here, I would like to put blue horizontal error bars
above the x-axis. As you can see right now, half of it is cut by the x-axis
(for the blue point at H = 0). I used:
 
axes.errorbar(data[:,0], data[:,1], xerr=data[:,2], fmt='', ls ="", c = 'b',
capthick=2, elinewidth=2, clip_on = False, zorder = 10)
 
But even if I change zorder = 1000, the error bar never goes above the axis.
Is it a bug?
 
Regarding the same topic, I also discovered that when using axes.twinx() in
Figure 2 (A : axes; B : axes2 = axes.twinx()). The blue curve (A) never goes
above the red curve (B), whatever zorder I use. I even tried
axes2.set_axisbelow(True), but it doesn't change anything. I really want
"axes2" to be below the "axes". Is it a bug? I had to change it manually
with Illustrator and it worked, but it is of course really not convenient.

Are you specifying a sufficiently high resolution and using the 
drawrivers() method?
I think that trying to put your own data into a form to be used as a 
direct substitute for the built-in data would be very difficult, but you 
can always plot things directly on the map.

Unless I recall incorrectly, I think I am using set_xticklabels because 
indices.index are strings. When I tried specifying

Why are you calling ax.set_xticklabels()?. Why not pass the x values to
ax.plot() along with the y values? Then you won't need to set the labels
because matplotlib will do it for you.

Thanks Paul. I have since then have been able to develop a better
understanding of imshow() and it doesn't seem very sensible to try and
compare/relate it to what plot() does.

Dear manager,
I am confused as I actually normally joined this list, but it is always

Probably a better way would be to the the "pos" arguments to boxplot
(bp=boxplot(array,
pos=range(11, 36)). That *should* work. Let me know if it doesn't.

Nantes / Monaco : chaîne du match en direct (24 novembre)
Déjà la 14e journée pour le Championnat de France de Ligue 1 avec une belle
affiche ce dimanche 24 novembre : Nantes vs Monaco. Un match qui s’annonce
difficile pour l’équipe de Nantes qui est un peu inférieure sur le papier à
celle de Monaco, mais pas impossible car les Nantais ne sont qu’à une place
de différence dans le classement des monégasques. Tous les espoirs sont donc
permis pour ce match ! Le match Nantes / Monaco sera diffusé en direct et en
exclusivité par la chaîne payante Canal + ce dimanche 24 novembre dès 21
heures. Il faudra donc un abonnement à la chaîne pour pouvoir le suivre en
direct et ne manquer aucune action sur le terrain. Les autres devront se
contenter des directs proposés sur certains sites, ou des réseaux sociaux
qui ne manqueront pas de vibrer au rythme des buts inscrits durant le match.
Comptez-vous suivre la rencontre Nantes / Monaco ? Quelle équipe voyez-vous
gagnante de cette confrontation ?

Try adding these lines before your call to plt.show():
 locs, labels = plt.xticks()
 plt.xticks(locs, np.arange(11, 36))

i guess thats an easy one for you: 
fig=plt.figure()
rect=fig.patch
rect.set_facecolor('white')
ax1=fig.add_subplot(111)
bp=boxplot(array)
xlabel('case ID')
ylabel('registration time, sec')
show()
whereas array is a list of lists with 25 entries.
i want to have the axis not from 0 to 25 but from 11 to 36. How can i do
that?
