X-Ray Fluorescence Spectroscopy

As in X-ray transmittance spectroscopy, in XRFS, X-rays of some wavelength are used to bombard a sample. Prominent emission lines at longer wavelengths (lower energy) are seen when X-rays eject or promote or (inner shell) electrons.
