Thermal Expansion Coefficient

The (volume) thermal expansion coefficient is defined by

(1)
(2)
(3)

where is the density, T is the temperature, indicates a derivative at constant pressure, V is the volume, is the heat capacity ratio, is the heat capacity at constant volume, is the isothermal bulk modulus, is the heat capacity at constant pressure, and is the adiabatic bulk modulus.
