Power

Power is defined as energy E (or work W) emitted or expended over a time ,

(1)

For an energy flux S, the power passing through a surface S is given by the surface integral Eric Weisstein's World of Math

(2)

Power is measured in watts, where 1 W = 1 J s-1 = 1 kg m2 s-3, or horsepower.

Power can also be given in terms of an applied force F by

(3)

where v, and applied torque by

(4)

where is the angular velocity vector.
