Plum Pudding Model

A model of the atom as evenly distributed positively charged protons with negative electrons oscillating around them. This model was proposed by Thomson, Eric Weisstein's World of Biography the discoverer of the electron, and was abandoned when Rutherford's Eric Weisstein's World of Biography scattering experiment showed that the atom consisted largely of empty space with a small, dense concentration of mass (which came to be called the nucleus).
