Heron's Problem

The problem of finding the relationship between the angle of incidence and the angle of reflection for reflection of light off a flat surface, proposed and solved by Heron Eric Weisstein's World of Biography in his Catoptica. The angles are equal, as can be seen by assuming that the path the light takes is the shortest possible and reflecting a straight path through the surface across the surface.
