Enthalpy

Enthalpy is defined as

(1)

where E is the energy of a system, P the pressure, and V the volume. At constant volume and temperature, the differential change in enthalpy as pressure and entropy S are varied is therefore

(2)

Enthalpy is constant in a throttling process.
