Eddy Diffusion Coefficient

A coefficient K used to parametrize eddy diffusion. In practice, eddy diffusion coefficients are difficult to determine experimentally, so a range of theoretical values are normally considered by modelers. The eddy diffusion coefficient of the giant planets is obtained from the observed heat fluxes and mixing length theory give to 109 cm2 s-1 for the deep atmospheres of Jupiter Eric Weisstein's World of Astronomy and Saturn.
