Cathode Ray

The stream of particles emitted from the cathode of a vacuum tube. Hittorf Eric Weisstein's World of Biography discovered the rays and noted that they seemed to travel in straight lines and produce a fluorescent Eric Weisstein's World of Physics glow where they passed through the glass. As was soon determined, cathode rays consist of electrons boiled off the cathode.
