A device to measure atmospheric pressure. In the U.S., the measurement is given in inches of mercury. The pressure at standard temperature and pressure (or STP) is 760 mm of mercury (also called 760 Torr), which is the height to which a column of mercury will rise at that pressure. Converting to inches, 1 meter equals 39.37 inches, so 760 mm equals 76 cm equals 29.92 inches of mercury.
