Ciao, ti scrivo in merito alla mia richiesta di rinomina globale, per la quale risulto non eleggibile a causa del mio blocco su it.wiki. Dato che hai accennato ad una ipotetica soluzione, vorrei spiegarti la mia situazione: Sono su Wikipedia dal 2011, ed ho partecipato a svariati progetti, con un complessivo che supera i 15mila edit.

Fin dalla rinomina del 2014 ho sempre contribuito come Vicipaedianus x (talk · contribs), senza che nessuno mi abbia mai accusato di vandalismo o sockpuppeting.

A metà 2020 è sorta invece una questione inerente la voce "Invasione russa della Crimea" (che avevo proposto di spostare al titolo più neutrale di "Intervento militare russo in Crimea"). L'amministratore Bramfab mi ha bloccato appena ho effettuato lo spostamento, nonostante l'avessi già proposto in talk, senza nemmeno darmi la possibilità di argomentare o replicare in alcun modo. Il blocco era inizialmente di tre mesi, ma è stato poi esteso all'infinito per una presunta evasione del blocco, che però non ho commesso e per la quale ho provato a fare reclamo, chiedendo quali fossero gli edit che mi attribuivano erroneamente, senza che Bramfab si sia degnato però di darmi una risposta. Di conseguenza mi sono rivolto all'amministratore Parma1983, il quale mi ha consigliato di metterci una pietra sopra e contribuire piuttosto da un nuovo account (questo), ma nonostante io avessi chiarito con Parma1983 dopo pochi giorni Bramfab ha bloccato anche questo account, accusandomi stavolta di sockpuppeting. Ho nuovamente chiesto il supporto di Parma1983, il quale mi ha chiesto di attendere il commento di Bramfab, che non è mai arrivato.

Nel frattempo, i miei edit sono stati tutti annullati, per principio preso, nonostante fossero corretti (es. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc.).

Di conseguenza, ho perso le speranze in una soluzione trasparente della questione e cambiato progetto (contribuisco principalmente su en.wiki adesso). Pensavo bastasse, ma a quanto pare il blocco su it.wiki continua a penalizzarmi anche sugli altri progetti, per cui ti chiedo: puoi aiutarmi? Sei la mia ultima speranza. Sì, la creazione di questo account è stata tecnicamente un'evasione dal blocco, ma come avrei potuto chiedere spiegazioni altrimenti? Appena ricevuto il blocco, ho atteso pazientemente per 4/5 mesi, ma quando poi Bramfab mi ha infinitato senza motivo ho dovuto chiedere spiegazioni. Non ho mai nascosto chi fossi. Ho fatto tutto in coordinamento con Parma1983 e nel rispetto dei paletti che lo stesso Bramfab mi aveva indicato prima di sparire, il 30 novembre 2020, ed il risultato è che oltre al blocco degli account mi hanno bloccato anche il range di IP, sicché avere una risposta è diventato impossibile. Perché nessuno mi spiega il motivo del blocco infinito sull'account Vicipaedianus x? Perché mi dite tutti che devo rassegnarmi? Diamine, avevo solo rinominato una voce, mica vandalizzato alcunché; le linee guida di it.wiki non mi pare affatto lo classifichino come un motivo valido per infinitare un collaboratore decennale. Ed ora dovrei ancora attendere altri 6/7 mesi? Non ce la faccio... La situazione sarebbe differente se lasciassi questo account "troppo giovane" e tornassi a quello decennale, reindirizzando là tutte le mie attuali sottopagine e ponendo un avviso come avevo già fatto su en.wiki? Sono ormai tre anni che uso quest'account (con all'attivo circa 12mila contributi globali, pareggiando il vecchio), ed ancora oggi non ho nemmeno il diritto di rinomina a causa dell'ingiusto blocco su it.wiki. Intanto il mio account e il mio range di IP sono ancora bloccati su it.wiki, per cui non posso fare alcun ricorso lì. Avendo sempre contribuito positivamente all'enciclopedia, mi chiedo perché io debba essere marchiato a vita e trattato peggio di un criminale. Nonostante i miei contributi decennali, sembra una persecuzione, non mi sarà mai riconosciuto alcun merito o diritto? Sono veramente marchiato a vita? Una soluzione deve esistere. Hello Svartava2! Svartava is not usurpable (too many edits) but, if you can prove that the account it's yours, I think we can rename it! But have you tried to recover it from here? If you can't, try to open a task on phabricator (explaining that you have lost your password and the reason why you cannot recover it), usually they are able to solve these problems :) If you have any other doubts or requests, just write me here, I will be happy to help you! How can I prove that "Svartava" was my account? The problem with recovering it was that I don't have access to the email registered with it (if any, I don't remember now). Would a check user be able to prove this case with the similarity in IP and device between "Svartava" and "Svartava2"? @Svartava2: My advice is still to try to open a task on phabricator in order to try to regain possession of the account. "Svartava" cannot be checked because the account has contributions that are too old for a CU (and this would not be the main purpose of a CU). In case you are unable to recover it also via phabricator, we will look for an alternative solution through your community, don't worry :) The important thing, also for security reasons, is to try to recover the account imho! Regarding the talkpage vandal that was dumping German language text on their and another users talkpage, they seem to be on 2a02:3037:600::/43. From xtools, the number of the edits from that range that have been reverted increased greatly last month. Just in case you end up having to widen the block. That's a German LTA who has been around for many years in dewiki and dewiktionary. A bit unusual that he's vandalizing Meta so intensely (not the first time though). Regarding Special:Diff/24499894, I know (see Special:Diff/24495304). I'm not too sure about the bot's underlying code (Alchimista will know) but if a voter's eligibility has been checked by a human, I don't think that the bot double-checks that: it just moves it from one section to another (I know it also adds voters, but that isn't strictly relevant here). If the human checkers are moving usernames to the right section after checking, surely that saves the bot from clogging watchlists further? Moving usernames doesn't seem to break the bot, so I don't think that moving usernames back to the wrong section was completely necessary. Sdrqaz (talk) 16:34, 6 February 2023 (UTC) Reply

@Sdrqaz: Tbh I just follow the instructions. Since it says in bold "Don't move lines around" I'd suggest don't do it (although it won't break the bot). It seems to me this has been reversed in the past but, if you feel I'm wrong, revert me without problem! I'll wait for Martin's input as well, but it seems to me that the notice should be rephrased to something discouraging people from seeing checked usernames in the "Need Checking" section and editing the template just to move them to "Checked" (like "it is not necessary to move lines around" rather than a blanket ban on all moves), since moving lines around when checking prevents watchlists from needing things like Special:Diff/24495505. @Àncilu: Ciao! Si tratta di una chiave cifrata che permette di recuperare l'account in caso di problemi. Basta che cerchi SHA online e ti si aprono un sacco di siti. Scrivi una frase lì (che sai solo tu e lunga quanto vuoi tu) e verrà generata una chiave cifrata che potrai aggiungere al tuo account tramite il template {{User committed identity}}. Se dovessi perdere accesso all'account, mail, phabricator ecc. è l'ultima spiaggia. I'm an user from french Wikipedia. During a local CU request about acounts an IPs from a recent meatpupett/ sockpett and far probably a return or a looooooooong term abuse, we found a range of multiblocked open proxy IPs. It's 50.7.140.0/22. As you can see in this range several IP have many local an global blocked. Localy we blockedd it for 5 years. Could you extand it for a global block ? While I recognize that the SRP is not the place for the discussion of merits of the permission, the reason I posted a comment here on Meta is due to the lack of knowledge in Lao Language and the fact that I do not have an account there (though the account may be created automatically by virtue of the SUL, using that account to post a comment in permission request may be considered canvassing. While I do the same during Lookruk's Adminship Nomination at Thai Wikiquote, that RfA was cross-posted with Thai Wikipedia where I and the user are far more active and I have sufficient knowledge and understanding in Thai to do so). I did retract my comment in order for the RfP to pass without further hassle, though I feel I should provide further clarification on why I do so and why I decided not to post the objection at lowikt. @G(x): That's fine, I also had some concerns as you saw, but I didn't consider them a clear barrier. This is also due to the fact that the number of potentially dangerous administrative actions on that project are very few, and in any case I'll monitor the project constantly, and it's important that users want to help in minor projects. Surely with experience users will improve and will reduce their mistakes in doing the sysop :) Thanks anyway for your comment and for the fact that you wanted to clarify the reasoning that led you to withdraw it!

Hi @Superpes15, thank you! I had just created the account and tried do update some information about the company I work for on a page where we were mentioned (to be transparent, I do have a Conflict of Interest).

I did this because I read that you have to make a number of edits before you can suggest to create a page and my goal is to create a page for the company I work for, as it is notable - in our opinion - (we produce sugar beet seeds and do a lot of breeding and scientific research on sugar beets, which is also published by independent sources). I did those edits, because it was information that I was sure of, as I don't want to start editing at random on subjects I'm not knowledgeable about. But I didn't do the edits the right way, as I wasn't aware yet of the whole COI-thing. I completely agree with the reverting of the edits I made and I wanted to explain myself, but I got immediately blocked as a spammer/sock puppet (I hadn't heard of sock puppets before - Wikipedia definitely is the place to be to learn something new ;) ). When I got in contact with the Dutch Wikipedia via e-mail, they told me that the person had acted a bit too rashly as they thought that my account was an alternate account for someone who was spamming. They also sent their apologies.

As the ways of working on Wikipedia is a lot more complex than I first imagined, I am trying to read more on the correct steps to take for the creation of a page for the company I work for. I do really want to comply with Wikipedia rules. I have also asked to change my user name, so my Conflict of Interest is more visible, but I am waiting for feedback on that part. Hi @Superpes15: I have been trying to setup Aafi on en-wiki but a local block on an IP-range does not allow me to auto-create the account. I reached to blocking admin and they suggested IPBE but I am not sure if that is warranted given that I do not need to edit from that account, and I am able to edit from my main account from the same place. The only problem I see is that, reading at the reason of your block, Mirzoulug'bek's account was compromised or someone did a login without permission. Is this correct? Hi @Aviram7:, first of all please consider that requests for revdel/oversight should always be private (see policy), in this way you can publicize private matters more and this could be a problem! We have the vrts queue for oversight and IRC. I don't understand why the local sysops didn't perform a revdel on that diff, looks weird. Have you asked sysops for a revdel? The right procedure should be: immediately ask privately for a OS on VRTS/IRC, if stews don't reply immediately, ask local sysops for a revdel (waiting for a stew)! Hello there! Just a quick question, as you probably know the answer, I hope this is the right spot too. How come when users with promotional usernames are blocked on the Italian Wikipedia, their talk page is also fully protected? I have noticed that it is the standard practice on that wiki, and just wanted to know, as I have handled cases where users requesting a new username are blocked on itwiki and the blocking admin has to be contacted after renaming as they can't request an unblock themselves. @EPIC: Unfortunately itwiki is the only projects in which the block applies on the user talk page too (and sysops cannot unblock the talk page)! I hope we can solve this, imho it's a problem, because there's no way to ask for the unblock (except for the email). Also, the user talk pages are protected, because we often use a tool that automatically block them after the block!
