Wikiproduct is the website where you can consult all factual and critical information about any product. The tone of voice is encyclopedic and not persuasive to sell. Related advertising claims are reliably debunked, product recalls anywhere in the world are listed, all public information of the businesses involved in bringing the product to the market are listed. Basically anything that a consumer is interested in when considering buying a product or finding out more about it after purchasing. External links point to manuals and other related documents.

There is a website under the name Amazon.com that has a similar function but also has it as a goal to sell you the product.

A large part of the world wide web is currently infested with product pages. Because of the commercial interests the search engines are targetted using search engine optimalisation to lure more consumers to webshops selling the products. Meanwhile, it is difficult to find a reliable neutral search. Once you express interest in a certain product this is often stored in a cookie and it follows you around in that webshop and often also on other websites. Basically, it is a wild west situation and there a central registry of products (including the barcode) is missing. The commercial interests are too high.

Count me in, I proposed it on the Halfbakery unaware of this proposal.
