Wikimedians of Romania and Moldova User Group
About us
Wikimedians of Romania and Moldova User Group is a group of users active on the Romanian Wikimedia projects who are interested in organizing and participating in outreach activities on national and international level.
We have been active for more than ten years already coordinating an organizing among others some educational partnerships, workshops, presentations in different events (see WLM, WLE, Europeana 14-18 etc.). Having that in mind we would prefer to work as an officially recognized group in order to have the advantages of using the grants, trademarks and logos of Wikimedia, in our activities.
Our mission
We are focused on increasing the relevance and perception of Wikimedia projects, both among the regular readers and users, as well as within the cultural and scientific communities. In this respect, our strategic goals are:
- to attract a significant number of new contributors to the Wikimedia projects
- to increase the number of materials (documents, images etc) made available by the GLAM partners for Wikimedia projects
- to help increasing the quality of the contributions on the target projects
- to help alleviating the different existing gaps within our community (geographical distribution of the editors, gender and age etc.)
Guidelines
- conduct regular meetings with the contributors in the major cities of Romania and Moldova for discussions, conferences, workshops, etc.
- empower and engage members present online on Wikimedia Romania projects in offline activities, too
- provide support for the projects developed by the wikimedians of Romania and Moldova
- conduct online and offline editing contests and editathons
- identify appropriate environments for recruiting new contributors and conduct specific activities
- establish a relevant network of contacts and relations with other entities from the cultural and scientific communities
- engage and develop common projects with the GLAM community
