I've been looking around the web for various green / reuse / repurposing / self
sufficiency ideas for a while and find that information is very fragmented, on not very well indexed websites, or made by people who have read an e-book about making money from websites and have no little content and lots of banners...
Anyway, the thought came to me that it would be cool to have a wiki style repurposing website... e.g I have say 2 meters of plastic tube, what can I do with it apart from use it for plumbing... or swarf from my drill - can it be used for something apart from just going in the bin...
Articles could be of 3 types indexed firstly by material, alternatively by use. 1st:- Item or material to be recycled 2nd:- Individual projects to convert to a new use (or item) 3rd:- Processing pages - Recycling pages, to process an item into a different material, or more likely, split it into it's component materials for reuse or disposal.
I had a look around the web, and the closest I found was:- http://green.wikia.com/wiki/Wikia_Green which seems to be a lot of adverts for not much content... It's also just generally green, rather than based on reusing stuff.
I know http://www.instructables.com/, http://makezine.com/ and http://blog.makezine.com/craftzine/ sort of fill this role, but they are project based, and not so nice to search...
