Please check it. Last local sysop log was made on January 11. Thanks! —Sgd. Hasley 22:57, 30 April 2020 (UTC)

One admin, who is an ombudsman, so one would suspect that they are around. I would suggest that you drop a ping on their page to see if they would like some assistance. Whilst I am happy to remove spam, other deletions are another thing. — billinghurst sDrewth 00:13, 1 May 2020 (UTC)
Those pages are content-related, which would be better to be handled by a local sysop. I have deleted many spam and nonsense pages from that wiki, but haven't touched those pages for that reason. Esteban16 (talk) 18:55, 1 May 2020 (UTC)

@PiefPafPier Do you Mean edits from this User ? --WikiBayer 👤💬 10:59, 1 May 2020 (UTC)

Edit to add: I realize now you probably can't see the edit descriptions in a different interface language... but he is constantly moving pages to/from the template namespace, and recently started deleting its contents. Same on other wikis where he got banned. --PiefPafPier (talk) 14:27, 1 May 2020 (UTC)

Typical milestone-seeking behavior on small wikis

Creating pages for years, letters, etc., and some useless linking, on small (mostly adminless) wikis to push them to 1K articles. I assume this is one of our good friends (LTA). - dcljr (talk) 00:24, 4 May 2020 (UTC)

Year stubs at smwiki and gotwiki

Status: Done

An IP editor (under three different addresses) is creating stubs for years at the Samoan Wikipedia (which just pushed it to 1K):

They seem to actually be in Samoan (according to Google Translate), but each page claims the year is a common year (as opposed to a leap year), which makes roughly 25% of the pages incorrect.

There are also some very bizarre year-related "articles" being created at the Gothic Wikipedia (currently at 837):

All should be nuked, IMO, and an eye should be kept on the wikis in question for similar contributions in the near future. (No local admins in either wiki.) - dcljr (talk) 00:42, 11 May 2020 (UTC)

File:User-info.svg is licensed as CC-BY-SA-3.0, which requires attribution. When using files that require attribution, general practice is to leave the image's link as unspecified, resulting in the image linking to the file itself. A number of interface messages on various wikis, however, use this file without providing any clear attribution, usually by specifying |link= (a blank value, resulting in no link) or another target. Please remove such specifications to comply with the attribution requirements of this image.

Having scanned through the first few dozen wikis, the following interface messages appear to not provide the attribution needed. Updating these messages to include links should fall within the scope of Interface editors as "non-controversial maintenance".

Completed wikis

This is just a partial list. Thanks, --DannyS712 (talk) 02:25, 6 January 2020 (UTC)

DannyS712, I agree that this should be done, but can you please find a CC-0 or PD icon to use instead? I am afraid some local users might not understand why we are doing this if we just add the link or such. --Base (talk) 23:06, 25 January 2020 (UTC)
All similar icons are from the GNOME project and are licensed the same way. Changing the visual display is arguably more drastic than just restoring the link. --DannyS712 (talk) 23:12, 25 January 2020 (UTC)
I have done some of the above if on GS wikis per the "non-controversial maintenance". If my understanding is correct, this is the MediaWiki default. Changing the icon would be a controversial change requiring discussion. ~riley (talk ) 23:35, 25 January 2020 (UTC)
Nope, don't think so - the mediawiki default doesn't include the images, each wiki added them. Can you mark the ones you did? Thanks, --DannyS712 (talk) 00:08, 26 January 2020 (UTC)
Pardon me, I didn't account for the possibility that what Mediawiki have enabled might not reflect the default; the ones I did should be marked. ~riley (talk ) 00:56, 26 January 2020 (UTC)

[[#ref_{{{1}}}|^]] Having image link to its page when the image is purely decorational is against the accessibility guidelines.
Danny B. 22:17, 18 April 2020 (UTC)

Request to delete a page that has profanity content on Vietnamese Wikiquote

I request to delete this page: https://vi.wikiquote.org/wiki/Huấn_Hoa_Hồng

Some people has already placed a {{delete}} onto the page. But currently there are several sockpuppets (?) trying to protect the page. The fact that Vietnamese Wikiquote has no working Sysop is just really sad. --MeigyokuThmn (talk) 17:17, 12 May 2020 (UTC)

Harassment : Global request for protection of talk pages

Status: Done

Hi, Excuse me for my bad english. Since 2 years, I have been harassed on all the projects of the foundation, you will find here the details User:Lomita/Harassment. Do you have a possibility to protect my pages? or do a filter?

I allow myself to @Billinghurst: with whom I have already had email exchanges in the past Thank you for all you can do for me.

Have a nice day --Lomita (talk) 09:17, 30 April 2020 (UTC)

@Lomita: The global abuse filter that I wrote essentially does a protection of your user and user talk pages, excluding frwiki. That filter only applies to global AF wikis, and that is not universal. To see which wikis to which this does not apply, you need to consult this list of large wikis, and can scratch out four—metawiki, wikidatawiki, frwiki and enwikisource—that opted into global filters. At these other wikis, you are going to need to request protection of both your user and user talk pages, as each has a community that manages that aspect of their editing.

As a helper, I have done cebwiki for you, and you have never logged into mgwiktionary, so nothing to do there, and enwiki has been done previously, which leaves 30+ remaining. The place to ask on these wikis I would suggest would be their admin noticeboards, see Project:Administrators' noticeboard (Q4580256) for lists and links. — billinghurst sDrewth 00:07, 1 May 2020 (UTC)

Same old story. Rotating roster of IP addresses, useless ministubs created, stopping once the wiki has reached 1K. I won't bother linking to the individual IP addresses, but here's Special:NewPages for each affected wiki:

- dcljr

Oops. That last one should have been om:Special:RecentChanges, since the editing was adding useless links to already existing pages, not creating new ones. - dcljr (talk) 04:49, 18 May 2020 (UTC)

Thanks Dcljr.

Did a cleanup at chrWP and added a url to the local spam-blacklist with autoconfirmed to inhibit some of the edits. Blocking these ranges at those wikis, we will need to do some broader checks.

Reopening, as every wiki listed is back up to 1K (actually, (追記) at omwiki (追記ここまで) nothing was done but blocking (削除) at omwiki (削除ここまで) — to be clear, I'm asking for the May 18th edits made by IPs on that wiki to be mass-reverted, assuming someone agrees that they are useless) with similar editing done by IPs, some immediately undoing the deletions by billinghurst and others with just an equivalent amount of page creation. Looks like this will need ongoing attention. - dcljr (talk) 01:13, 19 May 2020 (UTC) [To clarify the intended meaning, (追記) insertions (追記ここまで) and (削除) deletions (削除ここまで) were made to this comment by dcljr (talk) 23:41, 19 May 2020 (UTC).]

I've deleted them for now but I don't think it is appropriate to close this section unless we wither come up with a more permanent way to fix these or discern that it is impossible. Best, Vermont (talk) 01:22, 19 May 2020 (UTC)
  • Comment Comment reverts are a little more complex as ideally we would not want to kill RC, so we need to bot them. Pywikibot can be set to manage those reverting edits, though to get bot rights is a little more complex, especially as crosswiki global bots are not for reverting. We need a new paradigm, either consensus on how we will handle, and one that is ticked off by stewards OR we just do it noisily and to hell with RCs.
Need stewards comment on what they will do as they can do personal or bot rights management judiciously, against what they want managed by others. — billinghurst sDrewth 06:32, 19 May 2020 (UTC)

Adding to this list

  • bcl: where there has been activity on 31.210.91.0/24 and some out of the range of RC

Lua help

Status: Cannot be undertaken

Hello from el.wiktionary. Is there a collection of easy-to-apply simple Lua modules for small wikis? E.g. 'easy-links' 'easy-categories'. Because not knowing Lua, I try to copy from other wiktionaries. English wiktionary has so difficult modules; impossible to learn from them. So, I copy only small chunks at my test. But the only result I get is attempt to index field '?' (a nil value) Thank you in advance. Sarri.nil or --Sarri.greek (talk) 02:22, 31 May 2020 (UTC)

There is no such thing as easily applied LUA modules that you could use, it is too hard to make such recommendations to what is within your scope. I would think that you should be looking first at gadgets that are available, eg. hotcat, and the like which can be globally set. You should also be looking to ensure that you have some of the components for good integration with Wikidata. For what it is worth Tech is a more appropriate forum for exploring your interest for scripts and getting them implemented. — billinghurst sDrewth 03:23, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
Thank you billinghurst. I was hoping that there is a support team of Lua authors or something like that. As you know, even if there are language-specifics, the tasks in wikis are similar, repetitive. Small wikis -1 to 10 active editors- have no way to meet the needs. Also, some kind of uniform other things: css and interface editing. Fonts. User rights: ours, in el.wikt. are archaic. We have people waiting to become rollbackers, and we do not find it. Thank you for listening. Sarri.greek (talk) 06:13, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
PS I will go to Tech, thank you again Sarri.greek (talk) 06:22, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
@Sarri.greek: I have never stumbled across a crosswiki pool of LUA editors, they all seem to sit within communities focusing on their interests. You could also try the wikitech-l mailing list as they may have a more general idea. I would think that if you can identify the purpose of the scripts that others are using that may be advantageous to you, then that it is a more guided approach. — billinghurst sDrewth 07:15, 31 May 2020 (UTC)

OAuth approval request for Lingua Libre

Status: Done

Hi, I'm the main developper of Lingua Libre, a tool to record audio files and publish them on commons. It has already be used to upload more than 200 000 files so far. We will soon change our domain name from lingualibre.fr to lingualibre.org, that's why I'm requesting a new OAuth consumer.

I've made a mistake during a first application a bit early on, could you remove the consumer application 2.1?

Thanks — 0x010C ~talk~ 11:14, 9 May 2020 (UTC)
