The Tyap Wiki Bootcamp is an initiative by the Tyap Wikimedians User Group aimed at grooming Tyap speakers who wish to improve their speaking skills to speak Tyap and Tyap alone for at least a week, and edit the Tyap Wikimedia projects during their stay in a common location.
Objectives
[edit ]- To immerse the Tyap Wikimedian in the Tyap language.
- To increase literacy in the Tyap language among participants.
- To immerse the Tyap Wikimedian in editing Tyap Wikimedia projects.
- To build a Tyap-speaking community with a high literacy rate in the Tyap language.
- To create a connection between the young and elderly Tyap speaker.
- To ensure that a Tyap speaker speaks Tyap well enough not to code switch or code mix with another language.
- To foster collaboration between the Tyap Wikimedia project, the language development board, and the project sponsor(s).
Strategic plans
[edit ]- Make a Google Form to share with applicants.
- See how possible to get someone to donate an apartment for the group's use for seven days for free or for rent at a discounted price. Alternatively, rent a low-cost apartment for the event.
- Invite the Tyap Language Development Board to send a representative (preferably, an elderly person well-grounded in the Tyap language).
- Send congratulatory emails to those selected for the bootcamp.
- Hold a meeting with them to ascertain their proficiency in spoken Tyap, since knowing the spoken language to a level is the least qualification needed.
- Get a venue with a good browsing network and fairly stable electricity supply, and announce the venue to the participants.

When a member of a sot (i.e., "group" --- sing. for susot) commits an offense, the entire group goes in for it with an odd chore.

Rule breakers
[edit ]While participating in this event, participants must adhere to the code of engagement, which includes the omission of conversations in the Hausa language during the sessions between 09:00 a.m. and 09:00 p.m.:
NB:The earlier penalty for rule breaking was getting defaulters perform odd chores, but since the chores were being done by groups day after day, this seems not an effective way. Hence, overlooked.
