I know messing up the page isn't the best way to accomplish what I wanted... See Talk:Requests for new languages. Can you think of any solution to the problem? Jon Harald Søby 20:49, 12 April 2007 (UTC) Reply

Nope

All of them are still there. Some of their creators cheated (porbably because they didn't read the instructions) and put their proposals at the top.

I'm also amazed by the amount of people that put the details right there and not in the details page. It's like everybody knows how to write but nobody knows how to read.

By the way, voting is evil. A practice against our policies. Reaching concensus means to find the best fit policy and determining the best approach, not voting or pooling.

Yep, you should have seen it before I first came like 8 months ago! The criteria I'm following is

  1. avoiding excess of detail (I moved those to the corresponding pages)
  2. avoid erasing (because I also believe every detail has ist place)
  3. Organizing by number of interested user, then by how complete the proposal is and then by date.
  4. Moving the ocational comment from the interested users to the respective comments page.
  5. Observing our policies while organizing as good as possible.

Nice! I think I'll be a frequent visitor. English is my second language, and I'm always trying to improve it. I've always thought there should be a translation wiki.--T-man 12:09, 18 June 2007 (UTC) Reply

Latin localization

Latest comment: 17 years ago 17 comments2 people in discussion

Hi SPQRobin, great that you are translating some of the Latin interface! I noticed that a number of changes have been checked into svn and will go live soon and I found out that it was you who did the translation work at betawiki.

Some comments:

Special page names

Allpages
I would prefer "Paginae omnes" (word order, see my proposal at mw:Special page names/la and the discussion at mw:Talk:Special page names/la).
I copied the page title of wikipedia:la:Special:Allpages. SPQRobin 16:00, 24 September 2007 (UTC) Reply
Movepage
I think "Paginam movere" is more precise, but adding "Movere" as a further alias in the second place is a good idea.
Done. SPQRobin 16:00, 24 September 2007 (UTC) Reply
Allmessages
"Nuntiae" is wrong IMHO, should read "Nuntia systematis".
Yes, you're right, nominative is nuntium. SPQRobin 16:00, 24 September 2007 (UTC) Reply
Userrights
word order, why not "Usorum" as the first word?
I don't know, I think Iures_usorum is better. SPQRobin 16:00, 24 September 2007 (UTC) Reply
MIMEsearch
"quarere" contains a typo, my proposal would be "Quaerere per MIME" (see the links above and my argument about the sorting order on Special:Allmessages).
Hmm... a typo I always make :s SPQRobin 16:00, 24 September 2007 (UTC) Reply
Mypage, Mytalk
not "meae" but "mea"
Copy-paste mistake... SPQRobin 16:00, 24 September 2007 (UTC) Reply

category-empty
grammar: if the verb is "continet" then it needs to be "Haec categoria" (on la.wp we currently have a dativus possessoris construction: "Huic categoria non sunt ...")
I didn't see that it was dative :$ I've changed it. SPQRobin 16:00, 24 September 2007 (UTC) Reply
aboutpage
please change back to "Project:De {{grammar:ablative|{{SITENAME}}}}", some time ago I added a grammar function to work for the Wikimedia project names, see [1].
Generally: In almost all cases you do not need to specify {{ns:project}}:Somepagename, you can directly use Project:Somepagename and the particular namespace name will display correctly.
Done. SPQRobin 16:00, 24 September 2007 (UTC) Reply

Sorry for bothering you (and it is quite possible that I am going to spot some other issues when the changes go live) - nevertheless, thanks a lot for your efforts!

You don't have to say sorry, it's me, I have to translate better :S. (I've added my comments in your text.) Thanks for your corrections. SPQRobin 16:00, 24 September 2007 (UTC) Reply
I have a question: I don't know very good which prepositions I would use for Userrights-available-remove and Userrights-available-add. SPQRobin 16:55, 24 September 2007 (UTC) Reply
Thanks a lot for your changes! I have now created an account on betawiki as well and applied for translator status – I hope I can be of service!
(btw: you accidentally changed Aboutpage/nl, not Aboutpage/la ...)
For the userrights/group thing, I would propose ad (which you used anyway) and ex. A more verbose solution would be Potes usores addere ad gregem aut ad greges 1ドル. and Potes usores removere ex grege aut ex gregibus 1ドル. (using grex for "group.") --UV 21:58, 24 September 2007 (UTC) Reply
