Hello, this is the second time I filed form here, you can see the previous request if want. I would like to participate in OTRS to support the Vietnamese community. Now, I am currently the admin of the Vietnamese Wikipedia (from January 2011, vertify) and Vietnamese Wiktionary (vertify). Beside, I am also admin of Wikimedia Strategy and Wikimedia Outreach. Before I was admin of Vietnamese Wikiquote and Vietnamese Wikibooks; and translator on translatewiki.net. I work very actively in the project in Vietnamese, with more than 33,000 edits at Wikipedia. I am also the coordinator of the translation on Meta-Wiki, often appears to translating the fundraising and election of Wikimedia; and so on, I regularly receive mail updates from the Wikimedia Maillist. With all of the above, I look forward to serving Vietnamese community in particular and Wikimedia in general. Participate in OTRS and the online channel is one of my goals for community development. Hope you agree --minhhuy*= 09:53, 28 August 2011 (UTC) Reply

I hope Minh Huy will be an OTRS member. He really deserves this. He is an active admin on Vietnamese Wikipedia and this right will help him keep on good work--Hoangquan hientrang 09:49, 4 September 2011 (UTC) Reply
I think - even if the vi queue is small - there's no harm in accepting him. We'll be getting more vi emails over the fundraising period, and it doesn't hurt to have a vi-speaker around. Let's not forget about the vi project's needs, either - him being an OTRS volunteer helps them (with being able to check permissions etc faster) as much as it helps OTRS. Chase is correct, and VI is an area that we do need more support in. Ottava Rima (talk) 18:29, 7 November 2011 (UTC) Reply

This application will be delayed until December 25, 2011. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I'm very active at

  • the en:WP:AFC team (also very active at the related en:WP:FFU),
  • helping requests at en:WP:FEED,
  • in the freenode IRC channels (multiple, mostly active at #wikipedia-en-afc and -help and -accounts),
  • en:WP:ACC team,
  • answering helpme templates and semi edit requests (at enwp),
  • and active at commons and thus knowing how to deal with new and unexperienced users and license (mostly image related) questions (also familiar with 'Fair Use' issues/questions at enwp). I always try to help politely and in most cases persistent. I haven't any fear to get into topics which are not easy to resolve. I want to help at OTRS, because I believe it is important task for the Wikipedia/-media community. mabdul 14:49, 26 October 2011 (UTC) Reply

Oh and similar to Matthewrbowker broker above I'm a also filemover, rollbacker, and account creator (at enwp) and also doing mostly Wikignome tasks. mabdul 14:56, 26 October 2011 (UTC) Reply

  • Weighing up this applicant and considering what he does in the IRC help channels (and how being able to respond to tickets would assist there), it would be particularly advantageous to grant Mabdul OTRS access and I'm sure he would do it well. WilliamH 21:23, 26 October 2011 (UTC) Reply
  • I worked with mabdul when I've been implementing automated system for AfC and I must say, that he somehow fit to this job ;) + people who speak more languages than english are always needed, especially when dealing with systems like OTRS. Why not. Petrb 20:30, 8 November 2011 (UTC) Reply
  • He can support in OTRS working becuase, he is the active AfC users on Wikipedia. Mohamed Aden Ighe 00:22, 28 November 2011 (UTC) Reply

I'm an admin on en-wiki. Besides the normal vandal fighting, one of my favourite areas is checking images - particularly the ones in the "All Free Media" category for correct licenses and permission, and moving good ones to commons. I have raised some issues at the en-OTRS noticeboard on 100+ OTRS pending images here and 50+ here, where I have found (far too many...) images which are finding loophopes/slipping through the net and remaining when they should be long gone. Of, course, I cannot check how valid these OTRS pending requests are, and following the second post, HJ Mitchell suggested I request access to help process these image requests one way or the other. As for my style - I don't recall ever biting any editor, and nothing anyone writes has ever thrown me - they are just words, a full evening's vandal fighting with Huggle will throw up plenty of insults - life's too short to get stressed about them, user page on en-wiki has been vandalised 150 times or so. I may be accused of feeding the trolls occasionally, because I tend to reply, even when they are not that nice to me. Ronhjones 19:51, 23 November 2011 (UTC) Reply

I am involved in collaborations with a number of institutions through my work with Wikimedia Canada [4] (of which I am on the board). I am also an administrator of the English Wikipedia involved primarily with en:WP:WikiProject Medicine. I deal with a lot of image issues having uploaded many hundreds of my own [5] and those donated by my colleagues / collaborators. A happy to be involved with any OTRS issues that deal with medicine. I'd like to help out on OTRS because I'm always willing to help others (as a coach on nlwiki I accompany new users since February of this year - similar to the adopt-a-user program on enwiki). First something about me. I'm active as Trijnstel since May 2009, but I have approximately one hundred edits with my previous account Flower (I'm only the one on nlwiki) which I used from December 2005 until February 2008. I think I could be a valuable addition to the OTRS team with my experience as an administrator on the Dutch Wikipedia, Meta-Wiki and Wikimedia Commons and as a steward. As to where (the OTRS queues) I could probably help you, these are the following I'm thinking of now: info-nl, permissions, permissions-nl, permissions-commons, stewards, photosubmission. (I'm also willing to help with the Dutch wikiportrait project, but I don't quite know where these images will be send to - probably to the queue wikiportret). Of course I don't know if all these queues are possible, so I will await your response (if any). If you need to know more, feel free to ask your questions to me. Thanks in advance. Kind regards, Trijnstel 23:16, 27 November 2011 (UTC) Reply

This user is great in photo managing. She is an admin on Wikimedia Commons since August 2011 and she can do the work by herself. Mohamed Aden Ighe 00:20, 28 November 2011 (UTC) Reply
It seems your email didn't make it yet to the contact-nl mailing list - but it has been posted there now for discussion, fyi. Effeietsanders 08:26, 28 November 2011 (UTC) Reply
Ok, thanks. I guess you'll receive the email soon as I didn't do anything wrong afaik (I've send an email to volunteers-otrsATwikimedia.org - I didn't have to do anything more right?) Regards, Trijnstel 08:59, 28 November 2011 (UTC) Reply
When applying for the info-nl queue, it is always advised to contact someone in the queue, and that person should then tell you to email contact-nl specifically :) (yes, we are somewhat special about that as info-nl - we prefer to decide as a team who will join instead of someone not speaking the language and not knowing the community; nothing personal). Effeietsanders 09:14, 28 November 2011 (UTC) Reply
Ah, in that case I already learned something. ;) I didn't know this (and if I did, I wouldn't make this mistake). For the transparancy I'll forward my email to contact-nlATwikimedia.org. Thanks for helping! Regards, Trijnstel 09:41, 28 November 2011 (UTC) Reply

I'd like to help on OTRS because I want to help confirming image permissions, as well as getting image licenses sorted out. Clarkcj12 19:42, 29 November 2011 (UTC) Reply
