Wikipedia memiliki sekitar 1,7 juta artikel biografi namun hanya sekitar 20% yang merupakan artikel biografi tokoh perempuan. Jika Wikipedia ingin memuat seluruh pengetahuan manusia, hal ini harus diubah dan dengan fakta kesenjangan gender tersebut, tujuan kita pun masih sangat jauh. Hari Perempuan Internasional menjadi momen penting untuk mengingatkan diri kita kembali mengenai kesenjangan ini baik terhadap perempuan maupun kesenjangan seluruh kelompok masyarakat yang kurang terwakilkan lainnya, serta untuk memperbarui upaya kita menutup kesenjangan tersebut.
