- I like this one a lot. Consider shorter variations, as well:

Wikipedia is the world's greatest repository of knowledge. [Donation needed]

- Obviously, WP only. Something similar could be run for commons though. Philippe (WMF) 22:46, 3 September 2010 (UTC) [reply ]

There's no such thing as a free omnipresent universal reference source.
Servers cost money. You can help with a gift today.

350 servers. 273 languages. 16,400,565 articles.
Wikipedia needs your help to keep growing.
Comments:
- I like this one, maybe better if you put the articles first, since most people won't react emotionally to servers. Ocaasi 23:45, 2 September 2010 (UTC) [reply ]
- Also, "articles" doesn't work on commons. No big deal though, we can just not run it there. Philippe (WMF) 22:36, 3 September 2010 (UTC) [reply ]

You have what we need to keep growing.

- Clever, but I worry that active links besides donate links might detour readers away from the donation page Ocaasi 23:45, 2 September 2010 (UTC) [reply ]
- So we just don't link 'em. :) Is the us vs them thing an issue here? Philippe (WMF) 22:40, 3 September 2010 (UTC) [reply ]
Admit it: without Wikipedia, you never could have finished your dissertation.
Click here to keep Wikipedia free for future grads.

- Clever, but is the PhD demo a little small? Will others get it? Ocaasi 23:45, 2 September 2010 (UTC) [reply ]

If everyone using Wikipedia right this second gave 25,ドル we'd have $XX,XXX,XXX.
That buys a lot of server space. Do your part with a 25ドル gift.
Comments:
- I like where this one is going. Donors like to see their gift as part of a big total. Ocaasi 23:45, 2 September 2010 (UTC) [reply ]

the fundraiser that anyone can edit .
The landing page for this should describe how the fundraiser messages were created by volunteers and how they can be a part of that, and there should be an input form for people to add their own fundraising messages, which could be dumped into a spreadsheet. (We probably don't want to send a huge flood of people here.)--Ragesoss 00:01, 3 September 2010 (UTC) [reply ]
Here's some explanatory text for the landing page:
- the fundraiser that anyone can edit
- Just like Wikipedia itself, the messages for this fundaiser are written by volunteers. Your support helps bring Wikipedia and its sister sites to 380,000,000 people per month, in more than 260 languages. And if you have a great message idea, you can edit this fundraiser!
- Please donate.

- Love this message. It's like a language vocab. lesson + cultural appreciation all rolled up in a banner. Megan Hernandez (WMF)

- This would be great for Wiktionary, especially if the X linked to the word's entry. --Yair rand 22:40, 2 September 2010 (UTC) [reply ]
- While I like what you're saying, Yair rand, I worry that linking people to anything but the donation form from the banners will result in potential drop-off prior to hitting the donation pages. Philippe (WMF) 18:39, 4 September 2010 (UTC) [reply ]
- I heart this. Philippe (WMF) 22:40, 3 September 2010 (UTC) [reply ]
Americans spend 200 billion hours a year watching TV for 60ドル a month. It took 100 million hours to create Wikipedia. Did you consider donating 0ドル.36 yet ?

- I'm not sure if this is gonna work, but i like the idea of illustrating this concept in some way. The 60 bucks is totally made up, but the other nubmers are from http://www.informationisbeautiful.net/2010/cognitive-surplus-visualized/ 86.83.8.231 20:45, 4 September 2010 (UTC) [reply ]
