Wikimania 2006/Planning

I'm starting this early! As we did have some hickups here and there that kind of got on my nerves I decided to start now before I forgot too much.

before I do though thank you to all event organizers of the 2005 wikimania conference! Some of the big players include elian, delphine, Jenz, Sam, Jimbo, and (add yourself here, I don't remember all of the names :( ).

Now, on to the next conference!

We are thinking in Montreal or Vancouver Canada! Feel free to throw your thoughts and opinions on this or suggestions for elsewhere

things to keep in mind about the place:

• main hall must be able to hold at least 500 people
• Air conditioning is just about a must!
• it would be much prefered to have some sort of preixisting wired or wireless internet for us to use. or a way to get us at least 10/10 mbps connection
• there should hopefully be ~300 rooms on site or within ~3 blocks walking distance
• preferably within a close distance to the local aiport
• proper lighting! this is a must, we had a major issue with this.
• projection screen in at least two big rooms (one including the main hall) for presentations

(add other things that we've learned from the 2005 conference here)
