Meta:Requests for adminship/MusikAnimal
- MusikAnimal (talk • contribs • deleted user contributions • logs • block log • abuse log • CentralAuth • stalktoy) Bureaucrats: user rights management.
Hello! I'm MusikAnimal. I serve as an administrator, CheckUser and abuse filter manager on English Wikipedia, and am also a global renamer, and abuse filter helper. To give a brief history: My earliest contributions to Wikimedia date back to 2003 or so, limited only to occasional minor anonymous edits on English Wikipedia. In May 2012 I finally decided to start giving back, and by March 2013 I was editing heavily on enwiki. Eventually I made my way to Commons, occasionally contributing to English Wikivoyage and Wikidata, and to some degree here on Meta. I am a native English speaker with an aspiring fluency in Spanish.
Following a recent RfC, Meta admins are now allowed to manage global abuse filters. This, along with improving local filters, is the main reason I'm here today requesting adminship. General counter-vandalism is a strong interest of mine, and accounts for the bulk of my Wikimedia contributions. The most recent example of where I could help out is this cross-wiki vandalism report. For this I've been communicating with a steward off-wiki on how to combat the abuse (as we do not want to discuss the filter patterns publicly). Beyond this, I am committed to improving filter performance anywhere I notice it is needed. I monitor the slow filter dashboard and make recommendations if I observe filters are exceptionally slow (e.g. local: 1, 2, global: 3, 4).
I admit my contributions to Meta in particular are not profound. For my primary use-case (abuse filter management), it was recommended by some that I seek temporary adminship. However, I see this as an ongoing area where I can volunteer my expertise. Additionally, if given the privilege, I look forward to making myself helpful in other venues here on Meta, such as WM:RFH, general patrolling, wherever I see I have something to offer. So in summary, I hope I can be trusted to use the sysop tools wisely, as they would certainly be useful to me, as much as I hope I will prove to be to you. Thanks for your consideration. — MusikAnimal talk 00:08, 14 May 2018 (UTC) [reply ]

- Support Support is competent with AF's and will be able to help there. FWIW @MusikAnimal: I think I was mentioning going for "limited" (which is temporary by nature, but we have precedence for it to be recurring) adminship, primarily if you were not going to be able to maintain the (albeit quite low) activity requirements for normal adminship. — xaosflux Talk 02:43, 14 May 2018 (UTC) [reply ]
