Throughout the first phase of the project, workshops on language documentation using Wiktionary and Lingua Libre were conducted in several cities across Indonesia. These workshops trained a large cohort of participants from diverse language communities, targeting not only active Wikimedians but also the general public. This broad approach was able to introduce the language documentation initiative to a wide audience, though it was not without limitations, particularly in terms of depth. The second phase of the project is currently experimenting with a narrower approach, focusing on select languages and working together with non-Wikimedia agencies, organizations, and communities, in hope of bringing more depth.
In the Rapid Grant project, workshops and tutorials are conducted boldly and attractively in several cities spread across Indonesia. This workshop trains participants from new and old users to use LinguaLibre, Wikikamus, and the collaboration between the two to preserve languages in Indonesia.
